There are several offices in the Boy Scout Troop to which a Scout can be elected by his peers. In order to advance to the rank of Star, a Scout has to serve in one of these positions for at least 4 months. In order to advance to the ranks of Life and Eagle, a Scout has to serve in one of these positions for an additional 6 months each.
